PENN STATE UNIVERSITY
Visual Design for Teaching Online Program
At Penn State, the Teaching Online Program guides faculty members through the intricacies of campus technologies and best pedagogical practices.
In my role, I assumed responsibility for the visual design elements of the program, encompassing the creation of its logo, badges, course content, and certificates. Delving into the conceptualization of the program's identity, I drew inspiration from the metaphorical ascent of a mountain, symbolizing the journey of faculty members as they acquire new skills and knowledge.
As a seasoned Multimedia Specialist, I played a pivotal role in crafting and co-authoring modules tailored to teaching visual design principles and elements. Additionally, I provided comprehensive guidance on the utilization of various multimedia tools and processes, including Kaltura, Adobe Rush, and VoiceThread, among others.
The program underwent a transformative revamp in 2022, culminating in the delineation of three distinct modules. A notable aspect of this revamped program is the implementation of a badging system, offering faculty members tangible recognition for their achievements at each stage of the learning journey. Upon completion of all three modules, along with requisite content, faculty members are awarded a certificate, symbolizing their mastery of online teaching principles.
